Ulster Rugby & Subway announce Summer Camp programme

Ulster Rugby, who have partnered with Subway as the title sponsor of all Ulster Rugby camps, have announced details of the 2017 Summer Camp programme.

The summer camps will feature 24 camps at 22 venues throughout the Province from 3rd July until 18th August, offering a fun-filled programme of rugby training and games for boys and girls of all ages and abilities.

Subway Ulster Rugby Junior Camps

(Boys & Girls aged 6-11 years)

Ulster Rugby will be running 13 five-day Junior Camps throughout the Province during July and August, from 9.00am until 1.00pm each day.

The focus of the Ulster Rugby Junior Camps is about children enjoying rugby in a fun and safe environment. The camps will focus on some of the core rugby skills including passing, catching, evasion, tackle technique and tactical development. Appropriate levels of contact will be used throughout the camp from tag/touch to grab and where suitable full contact (tackle/ruck).

These camps are open to both boys and girls born between 01/07/2006 and 30/06/2011, and previous experience of the game is not required to attend this camp.

The cost for a place on an Ulster Rugby Junior Camp is £65 and the camp fee includes a T-shirt, boot bag, rugby ball and promotional codes to claim a free ticket to an Ulster game at Kingspan Stadium and a free stadium tour, including a visit to The Nevin Spence Centre.

Subway Ulster Rugby Girls Youth Camps

(Girls aged 10-16 years)

Ulster Rugby will be running 2 Girls Youth Camps from Monday 17th July until Wednesday 19th July at Malone RFC and Monday 24th July until Wednesday 26th July at Clogher Valley RFC.

The focus of the Ulster Rugby Girls Youth Camps is about players enjoying rugby in a fun and safe environment. The camps will focus on some of the core rugby skills including passing, catching, evasion, tackle technique and kicking. Appropriate levels of contact will be used throughout the camp from tag/touch to grab and where suitable full contact (tackle/ruck).

Centra Ulster Rugby Girls Youth Camps are open to girls born between 01/07/2001 and 30/06/2007, and previous experience of the game is not required to attend this camp.

The cost for a place on an Ulster Rugby Girls Youth Camp is £40 and the camp fee includes a T-shirt, boot bag, rugby ball and promotional codes to claim a free ticket to an Ulster game at Kingspan Stadium and a free stadium tour, including a visit to The Nevin Spence Centre.

Subway Ulster Rugby School of Excellence Camps

(Boys & Girls aged 11-15 years)

Following on from the successful introduction of the School of Excellence Camps last summer, 5 similar three-day camps will be run for more experienced 11-15 year old boys and girls.

The focus of the Ulster Rugby School of Excellence Camps is on developing the skills and abilities of existing male and female rugby players. The content and delivery of these camps has been developed in conjunction with, and endorsed by, Les Kiss - Ulster Rugby's Director of Rugby.

The content of this camp will focus on all the core rugby skills plus additional non-rugby modules including fitness and nutrition for wellbeing and rugby, and mental skills.

To attend a School of Excellence Camp your date of birth must fall between 01/07/2002 and 30/06/2006, and and previous experience of the game IS required to attend this camp.

The cost for a place on an Ulster Rugby School of Excellence Camp is £85 and the camp fee includes a T-shirt, boot bag, rugby ball and promotional codes to claim a free ticket to an Ulster game at Kingspan Stadium and a free stadium tour, including a visit to The Nevin Spence Centre.

Subway Ulster Rugby Special Needs Camps

(Male & Female aged 6+ years)

Newforge sports complex in Belfast will once again host a three-day Special Needs Camp, while an additional Special Needs Camp will also be held at Portadown RFC.

These rugby camps will include rugby based fun activities that facilitate the development of fundamental skills including passing, catching, running, evasion and decision making. Fun and inclusivity will form the foundation of this camp. The focus of this camp is Tag rugby which is a non-contact form of the game. Tag rugby is appropriate for male and female participants of all abilities and ages (6+ years of age).

The Subway Ulster Rugby Special Needs Camp is open to participants born on or before 30/06/2011, and previous experience of the game is not required to attend this camp.

The cost for a place on an Ulster Rugby Special Needs Camp is £40 and the camp fee includes a T-shirt, boot bag, rugby ball and promotional codes to claim a free ticket to an Ulster game at Kingspan Stadium and a free stadium tour, including a visit to The Nevin Spence Centre.

Camp Staffing & Management

All Subway Ulster Rugby camps are staffed by appropriately qualified and experienced IRFU accredited coaches, and each camp is managed by an experienced member of staff from Ulster Rugby.

Each camp will also include a special visit from some of the Ulster Rugby professional team stars, who will be on hand to give tips on the game, talk about life as a professional and interact with the participants.
