Schools Football Tournament

On Friday 15th May, St Michael’s played a schools soccer tournament at the Ulidia playing fields.  Eight teams competed in a tough competition.
We won our first game 10-0 against Holy Rosary. In our second game against Holy Trinity, we came through as 3-2 winners.  In our final game of the group we beat St Peter’s 3-0 and qualified for the semi-finals.
We were drawn to play St Bernard’s in the semi-final.  We took the lead within five minutes thanks to a wonder strike from Jack.  However, in the final few agonizing moments St Bernard’s scored an equalizer.  The game finished 1-1 and needed to be settled by a penalty shootout, St Bernard’s snatched a 3-2 victory and headed off to the final (in which they were victors).
In the third/fourth place playoff St Michael’s faced Holy Trinity. We emerged victorious with a 2-0 win to settle in third place for the tournament.
Well done to all the boys who took part: Tom, Jack, Conor, Emmet, Jarlath, Rory, Finn, Matt, Sean,  Rory & Emmet.
