Junior Choir
A Busy Week for the Junior Choir!
The Junior Choir had a great time at an ‘Introduction to Jazz’ workshop in ‘The Black Box’ on Monday 11th March. They had the opportunity to listen to professional jazz musicians and ask them lots of questions about their music. Some even got the chance to improvise on the drum kit themselves! Teachers, parents and musicians were really impressed with the high quality of questioning from the children. A big thank you to the ‘Young at Art’ team, musicians and of course parents who accompanied us on this trip.
On Tuesday 12th March the Junior Choir competed in the Belfast Music Festival and were awarded an ‘Outstanding’ mark of 90/100. The adjudicator was so impressed with the tone of the children’s voices, their harmonies, actions and enthusiasm for singing. They were awarded the McKnight Cup, the Festival Youth Trophy for Choral Singing and a cheque for £50! Teachers and parents were so proud of this huge achievement! A special thank you to Mrs Fulton who taught some of the choir the sign language in ‘A Million Dreams’.
