Physical Education & School Teams

The school promotes health, fitness and sportsmanship by encouraging team games and individual sporting prowess. Teams for Soccer, Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie participate in inter-school competitions and leagues. St Michaels PS won the Carragher Cup last year & members of our cross-country team were selected to train with the Athletics NI Junior Cross country squad.

We are a ‘Rights Respecting School’. Article 24 says: Every child has the right to the best possible education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. 🏉❤️

In KS2, St Michael’s pupils attend swimming lessons at Queens PEC. From Year 4-7, children participate in basketball lessons facilitated by Basketball NI. Their skills are showcased along with their Athletics prowess at our annual sports day in June. All these opportunities presented run alongside our PE Curriculum which gives children an opportunity to develop their skills in Gymnastics, Dance, Athletics & Games. Core NI software acts as an effective tool for both pupils & staff to engage in Physical Education in a fun & interactive way which develops skills & promotes health and wellbeing at St Michael’s Primary School.
